Read the Anthologies for Free!

For the first time ever, we’re making digital versions of the Ohio Migration Anthology completely free! Download Volume 1, “Far From Their Eyes,” here and Volume 2, “(Everything Is) Cells and Bodies,” here.

We created these anthologies to showcase the talents of Ohioans across the artistic spectrum — poets, quilt makers, playwrights, painters, and more — and the fact that migration is simply part of being human. Each volume features people who have crossed international borders and people whose families migrated to Ohio during the Great Migration. Whether you moved across the state or across an ocean, if you’re making Ohio your home then you have something in common with your neighbor.

When you read the stories, essays, interviews, and plays or view the quilts, paintings, and illustrations, you will see something new and find something familiar. Volume 2 also includes multimedia content — like videos of Gloria Kellon explaining the stories behind her Black history quilts, and Enock Sadiki’s stop animation illustrated memoir, as well as interviews with other members of the OIA family, like Mory Keita and Saidu Sow. Mory and Saidu bravely exposed abuses inside immigration jails during the first Trump administration, and helped end two ICE contracts — before they were cruelly deported. They still hope to come home to their loved ones in Ohio.

Download your free e-books here (Volume 1, Volume 2), or purchase paperbacks via the landing pages (Volume 1, Volume 2). The anthologies also make excellent gifts.
